Addendum to Eggs – Found Weekly Prices on USDA site

Aug 10th, 2007 | By Gidget | Category: Coffee Klatch

This morning I received my login for the USDA site (basically a customizable portal for thier site). It aided me in finding egg prices tho. The USDA does publish a weekly egg price report. One that came out just yesterday shows:

Large, Grade A

For Southeast – They report wholesaler prices at .97 a dozen (They don’t report consumer price but ours a week ago was 1.41)
New York has it’s own report which shows wholesaler prices at 1.05 for the high and consumer price 2.39.

I compared Aug 2006 pirce of .62/doz wholesale to our cost, .75/doz
to
Aug 2007 price of .97/doz wholesale to our cost 1.41/doz
———————————————————————–
The wholesale cost went up 35 cents (57%) while our price went up 66 cents (88%) increase.

Just a heads up before I go canning, dairy is going to go up because cow’s comfort levels are low in this heat and with hay prices up, alot of hay having to be brought in from the midwest, are at 200.00 a bale. So, Got Milk? If not, might wanna get some!
