Boy Proof Cabinets
Aug 4th, 2007 | By Gidget | Category: Coffee KlatchI had an offer to blog about aluminum kitchen cabinets. Would I put them up in my kitchen? You bet I would! In fact, I looked for that very thing when we added cabinets to the downstairs. I ended up building them from pine and using matchstick blinds on the wood frames for the cabinet doors, but I would have loved to have had metal.
With studio supplies, boys and future guests, I wouldn’t have to worry about anything really nice getting ruined if I didn’t clean them right away. In my art studio, I used to have a steel 4 drawer chest and a trolley with a stainless steel top on wheels. I used the trolley as my inking station for the press and as an artist’ taboret when I was painting. It even had a bar on the side to hold a towel. I loved that thing and have tried to find replacements in every store. These pieces were from the 50′s and they were durable. A friend of mine still has them. It is really nice to know they are being made again, only now in a lighter aluminum. I will have to look into them – the metal would be great for the ‘man caves’ as well as the ‘mom palace’.
