Boys will be boys
Jul 12th, 2007 | By Gidget | Category: Coffee KlatchWe recently had to replace the blinds in one of the boys’ rooms for the third time. I wonder, do they hang on them when I’m not looking? Exactly how do vinyl blinds get split and cracked so often?
When we first moved into our home, 4 years ago, the first year – window treatments were just quilts hung via tacks above the mouldings, rolled up and fastened with leather belts. My oldest wanted a ‘cowboy / nature theme’. I thought it looked pretty good, but there was the problem of picking out upholstery tacks when I wanted to wash their window treatment and fastening belts were a time waster every day.
So, first tax check, we put up vinyl blind throughout the house. And every year since, I’ve had to replace them in the one boys’ room. This last time, I figured maybe the vinyl is detereorating from the sun on that side of the house, so we bought aluminum. So far, I’ve heard aluminum crunching, but no breaks or permanent bends yet.
On the same list before summer ends and fall school and holiday activities kick in, is to redecorate that aforementioned room. The oldest and youngest share a room now and the youngest doesn’t like the cowboy theme, he wants a ‘pig’ theme. He likes pigs and at the moment, pink pigs in a cowboy room aren’t looking so good yet. Maybe some new bedding would help. Alas. A link for you …. drumroll…. kids bedding. Seriously tho, I do need to figure out how to mesh their two styles so they can cohabitate, at least until we can afford to finish off a third bedroom. Any ideas other than traumatizing the youngest by putting lassos around the pig?
