The Garden is Growing
Jul 11th, 2007 | By Gidget | Category: Canning, Coffee KlatchThis picture was taken before we started getting all the rain this week. It’s even bigger now. I can’t wait for fall! Everything is budding out and growing so pretty!

This is the pond we added to the kids Fort Hoochenu. It’s made from a mish mash but it works. And it now has a resident toad.

And some boulders at the porch edge for footrests. I love Rocks!

I am so envious of your garden! Hopefully a little plan I’ve hatched will pay off and we can have a garden next year. But it will take a lot of work because you have something there further north than us… Top soil! I could weep in joy of the top soil seen in the top photo.
Don’t be too envious. It was with three years of double digging and lots of bags of Nature’s Helper that it’s actually growing so good this year. Top soil is non-existent here too, with the new construction.
All of those years will pay off. I’ve found very few tasty from the garden produce, at least down towards Macon. Most everything has a very nasty acidic taste from all of the pine needles mulching everything. A friend of mine did the same as you with the double digging and such with the exception of adding in a load of sand to keep the clay from working its way through the prepared soil too quickly and to keep the soil aerated.
