A few years ago, I had the idea for a digital picture frame. We had just received a digital camera from my MIL and I wanted to send pictures we had taken, to my mom. She hated getting on the computer and would always say that pics didn’t show up in her email, print them and send them to her. I was also upset that I couldn’t look at the pictures except to go to the computer and hit slide show and watch a computer screen. It would have been neat to have that slideshow available on my desk or dresser, etc.

My husband works for a company that makes similar devices, in that their devices gather information from a remote device, use satellite technology to upload to a hard drive sitting in another remote location. It would have been easy to get vendors for the components, the only learning curve for us both was the wiring and soldering of the hardware circuit boards.

Alas, the idea went the way of other ideas… we didn’t look further into it, and just two years later, digital photo frames started appearing. They have now become affordable. So I told DH, if I can’t invent one – at least – I hope he’ll remember me to Santa! And who knows, maybe the mfg’s of these devices will see this post and make it so they too use Satellite technology. Wouldn’t that be grand? Mom wouldn’t have to worry about ‘plugging in’ any card or cord!
