The World Wide Web meets the 70′s
Jul 9th, 2007 | By Gidget | Category: Coffee KlatchI was over at iStarLive checking out the latest meet and greet on the internet. This place reminds me of a combination of Kasey Kasem meets John Travolta with a little Karaoke thrown into an IRC channel. And That’s Not A Bad Thing Martha! (Wow, Slobo – that Stuffr spell checker came in handy on that one. lol)
The iStarLive site says “create your own event or attend other members’ events” and they have VJ’s (That Video djays for my colleagues). Doesn’t that remind you of parties in the late 70′s, with disco balls, colored lights coming from a sound to light transformer, loud music (lp’s then) and alot of people trying to break dance on concrete pads, ouch! I can’t believe we were all that limber (and thin).
Everyone was not only physically more active, it was actually fun to be in fashion. For the guys, there were wide lapels, form fitting, fun colored, polyester button down shirts, lots of white shoe polish and everyone had hair long and feathered, thanks to the likes of Farrah Fawcett and Lee Majors (or Shawn Cassidy – depending on your age). For the gals, there were spanish style, off the shoulder gauze tops combined with hollywoodesque satin pants. I had a pair of champagne satin pants in size 3 and feathered hair that hung to my hips. Yes kids, my hair was brown all over at one time and I could fit into your jeans!!! Those were the days!
