Welcome to Summer!
Jun 4th, 2007 | By Gidget | Category: Coffee KlatchToday is the first day of summer. I’m so looking forward to this summer. The kids and I prepared our garden around Fort Hoochenu in the spring, but unfortunately, a late freeze came and destroyed just about everything. All of the plantings in the front yard are even have a really tough time of it. We had planted climbing roses - one survived - the other didn’t. Our new snowball bushes, which I thought had died, are showing signs of life again, albeit - a hard life.
We purchased transplants from the nursery this go around, tho, which should give us a good yield around the same time. We’ve got five different kinds of tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, watermelon, cucumbers, five hot peppers, pole beans and one sweet smelling lavender. The corn we had planted did not make it, which is okay. It seems there is just enough room anyway for what is there now.
I can’t wait for harvesting and replanting. We should be able to get two good yields this year.
I love summer! Water, Gardening, Playing, Swimming, Reading……
In an effort to encourage more reading, here’s a like to a summer reading program for the kids…
