Then there were two….

The socks are now finished for my sister. She has tiny feet (barely a five) and I was worried they would be too big, but they fit really good. They were supposed to be for Christmas, but since they’re the first ones I’ve made and full of practice marks (aka mistakes) I decided to go ahead and give them to her, besides her tootsies were cold and the more I held them the more I was tempted to keep them. lol. The second sock is shown below on the right.

I’ve figured out what I was doing wrong on the toe grafting. This time around it looks much better. I realized I was doing the first part of the heel (back) wrong. I slipped stitches when I wasn’t supposed to be. Funny thing is I like the wrong one best. It’s closer together and feels more padded. The second one has funny ridges that I don’t think are supposed to be there. The Heel gusset is getting better. I don’t think I always SSK (slip-slip-knit) ‘ted those all in the right direction.

The second one only took two days of evening knitting as opposed to five. WooHoo! Gettin’ better!

  1. Wow, thanks for the link to Silver’s Sock Class! It looks like it will be a big help getting me back on track with my socks. It’s been over a year since I knitted socks, and the green pair is the fourth pair I’ve made. It’s slowly coming back to me.

Your first pair of socks looks much better than my first pair!

  2. Thank You! I was so inspired by your socks yesterday that I went out and got some self-striping yarn at Walmart to try it again. Making socks is so much fun… everyone here seems to need a foot hug too. lol.
