Meet Stitches!

This morning my DH bought me the puppy of my dreams, a cairn terrier. His name is Sylvester Squiggle Stitches. He is gray wheaton color, has a black band of hair on his back in the shape of squiggles and is 12 weeks old. He was born on my SIL birthday.

Over 14 years ago, my cairn terrier, Tripod (she had three legs) passed away in my arms on Christmas Eve night from organ failure. Tripod was born with numerous deformities, one being that her fourth front leg was missing from the knee joint down but it had a pad on the end of the stub. Her deformities did not stop her and she was the fastest thing I had seen on three legs and a pad. Just when I had just made the decision to take her to the vet to see if she was suffering, and consider going from there (tho, I prayed I could not do it!) when she passed on that night of her own will. Although I had her for only about 5 years, she was the only dog that ever came so close to my heart up ’til then and since. Stitches could be her twin, the same expressions, size, etc. except that she was a dark Brindle color. He touched my heart the moment I saw him.

It has taken a long time to seriously consider another dog for myself, tho we have two Goldens for the kids, but when I saw this dog before Christmas and that he was still for sale yesterday, I could not resist that little bundle of endearing energy when my husband said he would get him. He is our family’s playmate and will be my sewing room mascot. I’m sure he will bring alot of additional laughter to our family for years to come.

  1. Oh, how I love terriers! I had a Westie/Poodle mix growing up. While in college, I had a Westie and, more recently, we had a Westie/Corgi mix that we adopted. Unfortunately, we had to put her to sleep last summer due to numerous health issues and old age.

We knew we were going to get a new puppy for the family this spring and I had my heart set on a Cairn Terrier this time, but after doing some research and a little nudging from my husband…Well, keep an eye on my blog for the upcoming news. ;)

Congratulations on your new addition! What a perfect name!
