Just a little fabric…..

I promise…..

It’s so unusual that JoAnne’s would be having such a great sale and we actually had the money to buy something! I’ll be able to make jeans at $12.00 a pair this year, silky chiffons blouses for $6… What a great sale! I think it continues for the week if anyone else is interested.

Here are the blues that I purchased: (no pun intended)

Embroidered, Rhinestoned, Striped and okay, I did get two plains.
The ringspun is just wonderful. I bought ALOT of that one, since it will
keep these guys in jeans for another year!

and the khakis:

The top two are from china. Kind of a slubbed texture to them.
The bottom two are his on the left (a khaki duck type for new faux AE shorts) and hers on the bottom right (nice stretchy twill)

and here are the blouse fabrics:

Charmeuse fabrics. The one on the left is a silvery blue aqua color with an Italianesque village border scene. I think this one is my favorite. Everything about it is just so charming right down to the colors.

The one on the right, is a rather sloppily manufactured organza with charmeuse cutouts fused onto it. I intend to outline those appliques with a silver metallic thread and maybe add some sparkles to it. It was only $1 a yard, so I can live with it if it doesn’t work out.

India inspired fabrics:

I had just looked at some site links for knitted tops at Liana’s site, Sew Intriguing, in awww of the gorgeous ensembles, when lo and behold, I walked thru the door of JoAnne’s and it took my breath away. They have dozens of fabrics inspired by India in every color of the rainbow. There were so many that I had to just pick my favorite colors. It was such a treat to see something different there this time.

The fabric on the left is a striped shirting with embroidered roses, some buds, some full blooms.
I purchased this because I will always love roses and I really want to make another Big Shirt!

The one on the right is a Crinkled Gauze – ala late 80′s early 90′s. I love the colors and intend to
make a skirt from the Gauze with a crocheted tank top in ecru, most likely.

In addition to fabrics, there were having a 50-70% off sale on most notions, threads and trims. So, I stocked
up on those needed thread, zippers, etc. I also purchased some swirl threads and embellishments as well.
I was inspired by Liana’s couching of the fibres on a mandarin collar, so I picked up some of this yarn to give it a try on a vintage pattern I’ve been playing with.

This will be a really fun year to sew!

To top off the purchasing trip, my special guys took me to dinner at Smokey Bones restaurant!
It has been over (yikes) seven years since we went out for dinner. What a real treat this day has been!

  1. You really hit the jackpot at JoAnn’s. Really enjoyed seeing all your treasures and finds. You will be sewing up a “blue” (pun intended) breeze.

  2. I have the Italianesque border print charmeuse too! I’m planning a skirt, but your blouse sounds great! I probably won’t get to it until spring, but it’s been calling to me for a while! I like your “sloppy” charmeuse/organza too. Pretty cool choices!
